-
I’ve spent the last 25+ years working as a holistic nutritionist and master fitness coach, helping people feel strong, confident, and well in their bodies through nourishing food, joyful movement, and supportive wellness routines. My path into this work began after I was diagnosed with two autoimmune diseases as a young adult. Meeting with a holistic nutritionist changed my life, and I knew I had to share this healing approach with others. I love meeting people where they are and guiding them toward vibrant health—body, mind, and spirit.
I graduated with honors from Bauman College of Nutrition in Berkeley, California, and earned certifications as both a Fitness Trainer and a Master Fitness Coach through ISSA in Santa Barbara, completing my internship under the direction of Nautilus in Sausalito. I stay current with ongoing education each year to bring my clients the most up-to-date insights in nutrition and wellness. Over the years, I’ve worked in a variety of settings—including corporate wellness programs, alongside doctors supporting their patients, as a community educator, and now in private practice—helping people build healthier, more balanced lives.
Whether I’m creating custom wellness programs, hiking in nature, or whipping up simple, seasonal meals, I’m always inspired by the body’s ability to adapt and thrive. I’m a lifelong learner, always deepening my knowledge through continuing education, and I’ve worked in corporate, clinical, and private settings to support clients on their wellness journeys. I believe in the power of fresh strawberries, herbal tea, strength training, and savoring life’s simple joys—like roses from the garden and a cat on my lap.

“Her presence is gentle, wise, and filled with genuine love. I never once felt judged or like I had to change during my time with her. Instead, she helped me see my own strength and softness as something to be celebrated. Her magical way of seeing the world has deeply influenced how I see myself and others, and I feel like a better, more grounded person because of it. Anyone lucky enough to work with her will walk away changed- more confident, more connected, and more alive.”

“I had a persistent infection that would not go away despite four weeks of antibiotics. I had to take off work for this infection and was planning on canceling an upcoming family reunion vacation that I had been looking forward to for over a year. My favorite hobby and stress relief is swimming and surfing, also something this infection prevented me from doing for months. I was diagnosed with IBS nearly two decades ago, which led me to research nutrition and the gut. I was skeptical that seeing a nutritionist would have an impact on my situation but I had tried everything else I could think of.
After a few sessions with Layla, I had revolutionized the foods I was eating and began including a few supplements. She also helped me bust some common health food myths I had no idea could be contributing to my health issues. I was flabbergasted when she made lifestyle and even bathing suggestions that had a huge impact on my pain level at the infection site. Somehow these tips were not suggested by any of the plethora of doctors, nurses, and other health professionals I had seen. My infection began to go away with Layla’s assessment and assistance!
Layla’s guidance allowed me to go on my upcoming trip, work without worrying about the infection recurring, and provided me with information I still use daily to maintain my health over a year after working with her. I truly cannot recommend Layla’s nutritional services more! If you are on the fence about giving her a try, go for it! You have no idea just how vastly your life can be enhanced with her professional help!”

“I came to Layla at 49 years of age, thinking that the solution to my many aches and pains, brain fog, and emotional exhaustion would all be solved if I just lost 40+ pounds. I believed she would help me reach that number in just a few months, and I would be happy. What has come from her support and care over the last two years is far more valuable and loving than just a quick fix.
Layla has created space for me to process my emotions, advocated for more attention from medical doctors, and established infrastructure in my daily life to support new habits and a lifestyle that brings more joy and fulfillment, ultimately leading to better health.
She is a treasure of expert knowledge, kindness beyond measure, and a true advocate for my health journey. Bonus: I found a trusted friend at a time in life when we need more women in our lives.
Feeling grateful and blessed.”

“I have had the privilege of working with Layla Flower for a number of years. She has supported me in my successful quest to get healthy. It has not been an easy process, but Layla’s patience, wide knowledge base, and extraordinary listening/communication skills have been vital to my effort to overcome chronic digestive issues and to expand my roster of foods. Happily, I now eat a wide array of foods (that do not aggravate my digestive tract).
Layla is very familiar with digestive diseases and conditions and guides her clients regarding various issues that arise in obtaining proper professional medical treatment. Notably, in my case, Layla foresaw at the very beginning of our association that my serious digestive issues with autoimmune symptoms could possibly be exacerbated by fibromyalgia and/or chronic fatigue (me/cfs). However, it was a number of years before I found medical professionals on the East coast, where I live, who put the pieces together and treated me for these painful chronic illnesses and not just ongoing bowel obstructions and related symptoms.
I have recommended Layla to many people, all over the country, with different eating, digestive, and nutrition issues and all have been extremely happy with her services.”

✿ Frequently Asked Questions ✿
-
A: The main difference is that a certified holistic nutritionist works with the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—to achieve the highest level of healing, not just focusing on diet alone. As a certified holistic nutritionist, I work alongside doctors and can advise on lab results. Dietitians often focus on creating food plans based on food pyramid guidelines, while holistic nutritionists take more of a coaching and educational approach, viewing nutrition as one important piece of overall wellness.
-
A: Unfortunately, taking insurance has become very tricky for both dietitians and holistic nutritionists. However, I do accept flexible spending accounts (FSA) from your employer and credit cards.
-
A: No, you do not. I believe food is medicine and that less is more when it comes to supplements. While I may advise supplements when appropriate, I tend to be very conservative, and you certainly don’t have to take any if you prefer not to.
-
A: You can book a complimentary 20-minute session to learn more about what I offer and for me to hear about your goals. From there, we’ll figure out the best plan for you, including sessions and packages. If you’re eager to get started, you can also book an introductory session right away.
-
A: I have limited availability for in-person sessions and mostly work via Zoom with clients across the country. If you live in Sonoma County, California, I can let you know when an in-person spot opens up.
-
A: Working together is about creating joy and wellness for your whole being—body and mind. It’s not about what you have to give up. Instead, we focus on adding in what supports your best health and figuring out what truly makes your body and mind feel good. There are no “have to’s”—this is all based on free will and what’s best for you.
